Preparations are in high gear as Uganda moves to commemorate her 57th Independence Day Anniversary on 9th October 2019.

Independence is a memorable day when Uganda attained self-rule from the British colonial government and the Union Jack, that is the British Flag was lowered and Uganda’s National flag majestically raised at Kololo Ceremonial Grounds.

This year's celebrations will take place in Sironko District at Sironko District Headquarters beginning at 7: am under the theme; "Consolidation of National Unity, Security, Freedom and Prosperity".

According to Hon. Esther Mbayo the minister for presidency, H.E President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni will be the Chief Guest and has also invited another special guest H.E Emmerson Mnangagwa the President of the Republic of Zimbabwe.

Government chose to take this year’s celebration to Sironko because of its policy to ensure equality in all aspects and it is now a norm that all national celebrations are held in different parts of the country so that our people feel part of the Nation.
