The people of Bunamwaya in particular and Uganda in general have been urged to prioritize the creation of wealth at household level in order to effectively eradicate poverty.

“Development is for all but wealth is on an individual basis that can go a long way in creating jobs also. Let us emphasize on wealth and job creation,” he stressed.

The remarks were made this afternoon by President Yoweri Museveni while addressing the people of Bunamwaya and the area’s leadership at Aggrey Memorial School in Wakiso District after launching the construction of Kabuusu, Bunamwaya to Lweza road.

The 8.06 kilometres road is being worked on under the Kampala Institutional Infrastructure Development Project phase two (KIIDP) and carried out by China State Construction Engineering Corporation Limited at a cost of Shs. 97.6 billion.

President Museveni reminded the audience that when NRM came to power in January 1986, the Ugandan economy was ailing but the Movement has now put it back on its feet enabling activities like the development of the infrastructure to flourish.

He said the government has set aside funds to cater for all the vulnerable groups and advised them to take advantage of the resources.

The President further expressed his gratitude to be at Aggrey Memorial School pointing out that it was one of the very first private schools in the country before the government took it over.

He pledged to support the school in response to an appeal by Bishop Emeritus Wilson Mutebi of Mityana Diocese who is also Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the school who called on government to support the institution that was founded in 1932. Minister for Kampala City Authority, Hon. Beti Kamya and the area MP, Hon. Kigozi Sempala, among others attended the ceremony. The MP thanked President Museveni for the development programmes extended to his area.
