Police is investigating incitement of violence case against Andrew Mukasa of Bajo events who warned the president of plans to oust him by 2021 in a facebook post.

Fred Enanga the police spokesperson says the suspect also warned the military that he has people backing him towards ousting the president and his army by 2021.

“The suspect consciously run the risk of being charged with inciting violence, treason since the law protects the honor of the president as a democratically elected leader” Enanga warned.

The police mouthpiece further warned members of the public that posting videos glorifying violence is an infringement on the law. He further warned the public to desist from sharing such videos.

According to Enanga, the suspect’s fans have also dragged the person of the DIGP into the arrest by claiming a vehicle with private number plates used to arrest Mukasa belonged to Maj. Gen. Muzeyi Sabiiti.

“We want to put it clear that the private car number plates indeed belong to our sister security agencies who logistically supported the police in this operation.

Such number plates when the situation demands can be used to achieve tactical or operational results. The DIGP last used those number plates in May 2018 while appearing before the parliamentary appointments committee. He has since been allocated an official police vehicle and now has no attachment to those private number plates” Enanga added.

He says investigations into the matter continue and that by end of today, the file will be going to the DPP for perusal and sanctioning.
