Suspected German Pedophile trial kicks off Today

Masaka High Court will today commence the trial of Kalangala Based German suspected Paedophile, Bernhard Glanser Berry who was in April committed to the High Court by Masaka Chief Magistrate Deogratius Ssejemba to face 28 counts of defilement and child trafficking.    

The Director of Ssese Humanitarian Service, an NGO located in Mwena landing site in Kalangala district Glanser, faces 8 charges of aggravated defilement and 19 counts of aggravated child trafficking.  

According to records before court, in 2007 and in November 2013 at Mwena Landing site in Kalangala district, Glanser abused the power and authority he had over the minors that were under his care and sexually assaulted them.  

Aisha Naluze the Masaka Regional State Attorney on Wednesday, told Masaka High court judge Justice Dr Winfred Nabisinde that investigations into the matter are complete and prosecution is ready to proceed with the trial.

Now, Justice Nabisinde said that due to the urgency of the case its hearing can be fixed in the on-going criminal session since state is ready to proceed with the case.

Justice Nabisinde ordered state to prepare its witnesses so that trial can kick off.
