Police in Kampala has in custody over 424 suspected criminals who were arrested in a major operation carried out by Kampala Metropolitan police officers on Wednesday in the city to get rid of suspected criminals.
The operation that lasted four hours was targeting criminals that have been snatching phones, handbags, necklaces and other crimes.
According to Luke Owoyesigire the deputy Police spokesperson for Kampala metropolitan police, the operation was carried out in the areas of Katwe, Nsambya, Kisenyi, Old Kampala, Namirembe road, Wandegeya, Kabalagala, Jinja Road, city centre, Nakivubo channel and the surrounding areas.
“Some of the suspects we have arrested had court bails, others police Bond, these we shall immediately take them to the various Courts or police stations that need them. We are going to screen them before processing their case files” Owoyesigire said.
The suspects are likely to appear in court today, and police urged members of the public to be vigilant.
