Three State House field officers attached to Kityerera state lodge have been suspended over missing pigs.

The trio; Sarah Kawuma, Waitah Atim and Moses Basoga was suspended by Mayuge Resident District Commissioner, James Shilaku following a directive from State House to investigate circumstances surrounding the disappearance of piglets that were meant to be distributed in Kityerera town council.

949 piglets that were meant to be distributed to residents of Kityerera town council in fulfillment of the 2015 president’s pledge to boost the livelihoods of people around Kityerera State Lodge are suspected to have been sold off by the officials.

According to Zilia Namaganda, the Kityerera Town Council LC V female councilor who also doubles as the project coordinator, some politicians are fighting the program.

But, Shilaku says the District Security Committee has instituted a subcommittee led by the sub county chief to investigate the matter in collaboration with Police.

The RDC also dismisses claims of political interference to mud-sling the program, saying security is only doing its work to ensure that all beneficiaries are catered for.

The Overall supervisor of the program on behalf of state house, Lydia Balemezi says the field officers sent parallel lists indicating different names of beneficiaries, which undermines the integrity of the program.
