President Yoweri Museveni has a challenger in the upcoming presidential elections after Workers MP Hon. Sam Lyomoki declared interests in the seat.

Hon Lyomoki flanked by his Maracha East County counteropart Hon James Acidri told the press at Parliament this morning that he will fight against the scheme of sole leadership for the position of presidency in the NRM party.

Last week, Kasule Lumumba, the NRM party secretary general said the Central Executive Committee was yet to sit and decide who will represent the party in the upcoming elections.

The legislator has now threatened to present the issue before court if necessity calls because it is illegal, self serving and undemocratic.

This is the third time the workers’ representative pronounced his interest for presidency. He declared this interest for the first time in 2011 and the second time in 2016 but didn't feed his interest.

Meanwhile, Hon. Lyomoki has promised to move a motion in the House for the amendment of the NSSF Act. He has voiced that some clauses like acquiring NSSF money at 50 years for the unemployed persons and 55 years for the employed should be revised.

He suggests that NSSF money should be released under three circumstances of at 45 years considering the life expectancy, 30% of the money should be released to it's owner if requested to start up developmental projects and at death for a befitting burial.
