Kampala Lord Mayor, Erias Lukwago is disappointed that hearing of a case in which he wants court to force Kampala Capital City Authority-KCCA to compensate him for illegal impeachment failed to kick off.

The development follows failure by both the Attorney General and the trial judge Andrew Byabashaija to show up at court due to their busy schedules.

The matter was last year deferred for today Thursday for hearing. But, Lukwago says he was more disappointed when the Court Registry informed him that the Attorney General had asked the matter to be adjourned for three weeks as he is occupied with the age limit Appeal that kicks off next week at the Supreme Court.

Accordingly, Byabashaija, he was also away hearing an election petition in Sheema District.

“This is yet another disappointment, because getting this day was also not easy, it has been a long wait. These are issues which are still hanging on my head. I need to clear my record and people should understand, there are two matters in this case and paramount is my record” Lukwago says.
The case hearing is now fixed for March 14th. The case dates from way back in 2014 when Lukwago was reinstated as the Lord Mayor for Kampala after being impeached by the Kampala Capital City Authority Councillors over abuse of office and incompetence.

It is remembered that Justice Lydia Mugambe further ordered KCCA and Government to compensate Lukwago all the costs he incurred as a result of unlawful impeachment which is approximately 562million shillings. He is yet to get this money and says he is ready to fight until government compensates him.
