Makerere University don Stella Nyanzi will remain in Luzira maximum prison until December 10th when hearing of her case officially starts.

The unapologetic Nyanzi is accused of offending the person of the president of the republic of Uganda when she dragged his late mother into an obscene birthday poem, addressed to the head of state.

The MAK lecturer was previously granted bail but declined it claiming she wanted the president to physically appear in court and pin her.

Today, she appeared before Buganda Road Court grade 1 Magistrate Gladys Kamasanyu who heard from prosecution that investigations into the matter were complete and ready to move forward.

She is charged with two counts of cyber harassment and offensive communication dating from her facebook post on September 16th 2018. This is the second time the controversial Makerere don is facing the same after she was arrested in 2017 for calling the president, a “pair of buttocks”.

Her lawyer Isaac Ssemakadde told the press after court this morning, that the excuse of computer misuse is wrong. He claims that the same government failed to start a trial against his client last year.
