Panic in Kabale as Lightning Kills child

There is panic in Kabale district as lightning struck dead a child and injured two others. The incident happened on Sunday while at Kigata church of Uganda in Kyanamira Sub County in Kabale district.  


Police indentified the deceased as 11-year-old Isaiah Muredekayi Muhumuza, a resident of Kigata parish in Kyanamira Sub County, while the injured are Isaac Rubega and a one Naboth, a son to Isaac Nkwasiibwe, both below 12 years of years of age and residents of the same area and pupils of Kigata primary school.  


According to Evas Asiimwe, Rubega’s mother, the incident occurred at around 02:30 pm when the boys were sitting under a tree outside the church.


The deceased was rushed to Kabale Regional Referral Hospital but died on arrival. 


“We were in Church and the children were outside under the tree when the thunderbolt hit. We saw fire and everyone asked what had happened only for us to move outside and found the children hurt. The other children were taken to makanga and treated” Asiimwe says.
