Police has warned Ugandans not to join any processions organized to welcome Kyadondo East MP Robert Kyagulanyi from Entebbe Airport as he returns home from the US.

Police adds that they have received intelligence that some individuals have been distributing red T-shirts asking people to don them on Thursday and go to the airport where they will welcome the MP.

At a press briefing this morning, police explained that Kygulanyi’s family has not sought any permission from police to hold processions either from the airport or any other areas in Kampala as stipulated under the Public Order Management Law.

Members of the public ought to be reminded that public assemblies and processions are regulated by the provisions of the Public Order Management Act 2013. No member of his family has worked out a mechanism for those intended assemblies and processions as provided for in the law” Police says.

They add that the planned assemblies and processions are unlawful and would disrupt normal business activities including movement of people to and from the airport.

Police has now allowed only members of Bobi Wine’s family to be the only group welcoming him from the airport. Upon arrival, the MP will be availed security from airport to his home while police will continue to ensure law and order for all road users. “There shall be no unlawful rallies, processions and assemblies” police warned.
