Hoima district residents have accused officers of the uganda policeof failure to do their job of keeping law and order, leading to insecurity in the area.

The accusation comes after residents complained that despite several crimes being committed in the district including iron bar hitmen terrorizing people, the police have done nothing to address the matter. At least seven peoplehave been killed and several others left injured in such attacks.

The Albertine Regional coordinator for crime preventers Peter Mayanja, says police have abandoned working with crime preventes and thatpatrols cannot be done effectively when there are disagreements.

However, John Stephen Ekoom, the Hoima RDC says that residents should first prioritize personal security before blaming security operative, claiming that some residents are attacked by criminals because they move latein the night and police cannot be in every part of the district.

He explained though, that  the district security committee has resolved that police should jointly carry out night patrols with the UPDF.
