Drama ensued this morning when angry residents in Nansana nearly burnt an arrogant driver who attacked a taxi operator due to a minor accident.

Gerald Kayondo the driver of a Prado registration number UAM 617D, clashed with the driver of a commuter taxi identified as Richard Sseruga when their vehicles brushed as they tried to negotiate their way through the traffic jam around Nansana Town Council.

However according to Kampala Metropolitan police spokesperson Luke Owoyesigire, both drivers were involved in a heated exchange of words, prompting Kayondo to pick a hoe from his car, and hit Sseruga on the head.

During the scuffle, the community became rowdy and burnt the Prado. Sseruga was rushed to a hospital in Nansana where he was given first aid and later referred to Mulago hospital where he will be given specialized treatment and a report we shall also use to take Kayondo to court” Owoyesigire said.

Police managed to rescue Kayondo from the angry mob and called upon residents to always remain calm and inform police to intervene instead of taking laws into their hands.

Currently, police is holding Kayondo on tentative charges of causing grievous bodily harm to Sseruga.
