Police has freed former FDC president Col.Dr. Kiiza Besigye and Lubaga South legislator Kato Lubwama on bond after spending a few hours in custody.

The duo was arrested on Thursday after attempting to sneak out of their homes which were under security siege on Thursday morning.

Police allegedly received a tip off that some opposition figures including Dr. Besigye, Lord Mayor Erias Lukwago, Ingrid Turinawe, Kato Lubwama and Allan Ssewanyana were planning to cause trouble during appearance of their friend Bobi Wine before the military Court Martial.

Kato Lubwama tried to sneak out of his house and was nabbed by no nonsense officers, while Besigye tried to inquire from angry soldiers why they were surrounding his house, but they decided to go hold him at police. They were both held at Nagalama until Midnight when police released them.

Legislators Muhammad Nsereko and Johnson Muyanja visited the duo at Nagalama and decried the continued unnecessary arrests of opposition leaders.

Prior to his arrest, Besigye had just addressed a press conference and advised government to allow Ugandans freedom as stipulated in the constitution.
