The Police in Kisoro district have recovered two guns abandoned in different areas of Kisoro Municipality. 

Elly Maate, the Police spokesperson for Kigezi Region Police Spokesperson tells Howwe.Biz that the first rifle number UG PSO 8000069-04489 was recovered last night from an incomplete building in Nyamwirima village, Kisoro municipality. 

This gun with an empty magazine, according to Maate was robbed from Clever Habomugisha, a private security guard attached to RPS Security Company Limited last month.  
 
Accordingly, the police arrested Dan Munyambabazi, Ronald Lwanga, Gilbert Maniriho, Bright Kwizera, Augustine Ndunguse, Michael Harerimana and Emmanuel Katerega in connection to the incident. 

Now, Maate says that the rifle was found by residents covered with stones.

The second gun number UG POL K425455-105348 was found abandoned at Nyamushungwa village in Nyarusiza Sub County, Kisoro district. It has three rounds of ammunition.

According to Maate, this rifle which belongs to RPS Security Company Limited was robbed from a guard Robert Nsengiyunva. 

“Both guns have been recovered before they do any damage. We pray, let our people remain vigilant and security cautious if they see anything of such nature, this is the cooperation we have been asking for. Otherwise we are still investigating, and inquiries still continue” Maate said.
 
17 guns have since been recovered in Kisoro since the beginning of this year, says Hajji Shafique Ssekandi, the outgoing Kisoro RDC.
