Uganda police force has promised to secure all pilgrims that plan on attending the Uganda Martyrs Day celebrations in Namugongo on 3rd June.

Addressing the press in Kampala this morning, Emilian Kayima, the police spokesperson said the force is ready to secure all people from threats like; terrorism, kidnaps, road accidents, assault, theft among others.

“We shall have nationals and internationals. Our resolve to jointly secure this event is total” Kayima noted.

The police mouthpiece added that they also have robust programs for special groups including children, the elderly and PWDs.

Joint security efforts have been put in place. The commander Kampala metropolitan Moses Kafeero warned all those planning to disorganize the events, to stay home as they will be dealt with according to the laws of the land.

“Let it be a day of prayer. Those who are watching and are planning otherwise, we shall just arrest them. I warn them, on that day, let them think otherwise” Kafeero said.

He also urged members of the public to cooperate with traffic police especially when being advised on where to or not to park. He advised people to avoid travelling with vehicles to avoid traffic jam.

Kafeero advised parents who plan on coming with their children for the event, to be vigilant, keep watch and take good care of them.
