At least 8 people will be prosecuted in relation to the kidnap and murder of 28-year- old, Susan Magara, after the Director of Public Prosecutions-DPP sanctioned their file.

The suspects and three others still at large are accused of planning, kidnapping and later killing Susan Magara from Konge, Nakawuka in Wakiso District, before dumping her body at the Southern by-pass.

According to Vincent Ssekate, the police spokesperson in charge Criminal Investigations, the file is now ready for court." The suspects are charged with kidnap, murder and being accessories to murder.

Key suspects in the case are identified as Muzamiru Bikanga, the lawyer to Magara's family, his brother Yakoob Byansi, Abdulhakim Lugooloba and Musa Abbas, a second year medical student of Makerere University, while Byansi, Lugooloba and Musa are still on the run. There is also a female suspect identified as Hajarah Nakandi who is claimed to have taken care of Susan for the three weeks she was held captive in Konge.

It is believed that Byansi led the operation to kidnap, hold and murder, Magara. This is due to confessions from some of the suspects which indicate that Byansi was approached by Bikanga to find people who would help execute the kidnap so they could get money from Magara's family.

Now, it is alleged that the time Magara was kidnapped, her father, John Magara was in possession of US$1 million he wanted to use to buy land belonging to Bunyoro Kingdom but the deal didn't go through. He then went with the money to his home triggering the kidnap of his daughter.

Also, Byansi is alleged to have contacted Lugoloobi and enrolled him into their plan to kidnap Magara, and the two were part of the group that trailed and kidnapped Magara at Kabaka Anjagala road in Lubaga division, watched her and were present and participated in her murder.

Meanwhile, the Makerere University student, Musa Abbas is also alleged to have participated in cutting Magara's finger that was sent to her parents and then treating her thereafter and administering an injection with intent to kill her.

The suspects however decided to suffocate Magara with a polythene bag after realizing the injection was taking long to kill her. The postmortem confirmed that Magara was suffocated to death.
