Brig. Kaisirye Gwanga, now Maj. Gen has been asked to start preparing for his retirement slated for this year. 

The development comes after his elevation from Brigadier to Major General as President Yoweri Museveni approved the promotion of more than 1380 officers and militants of the Ugandan peoples Defence Forces-UPDF to various ranks, including the arrogant Gwanga.

In a statement released on Monday, it is indicated that the approval was on the recommendation of the Commissions Board.

According to the promotions made, most senior is Brigadier Kasirye Gwanga, promoted to Major General, Brigadier Steven Rwabantu, promoted to Major General and appointed Deputy General Officer Commanding Reserves, as well as Colonel Charles Wacha, promoted to Brigadier and Director Human Rights.

also promoted is; Colonel Charles Byanyima, the Commander Motorized Infantry Brigade- now a Brigadier, Colonel Henry Isoke, the Deputy Chief of Military Intelligence-promoted to Brigadier, Colonel James Nambale, the Adjutant  at General Headquarters-promoted to Brigadier  and Col Kagoro Asingura, the Ministry of Defence and Veteran Affairs Legal Officer also promoted to Brigadier.

Efforts to get more details from the military publicist, Brig. Richard Karemire were futile as his number was not available.
