Gen. Kale Kayihura, the former Inspector General of Police was a man of abrupt reshuffles, and this had become known to all his officers that they were always packed to move to the next destination, at a call of the tough General.

However, fate changed hands on Sunday March 4th 2018, going down in history as the day president Yoweri Museveni decided to do away with his friend Kayihura. Unlike the other police officers who were moved from one office to another, unit to another or area to another, Kayihura was fired, stripped of his powers and shown the way out with no mercy.

In a statement released on Sunday, the president also fired Kayihura’s nemesis, Maj. Gen. Henry Tumukunde, the security minister. The duo had been involved in some petty fights over the years, putting their jobs of securing Ugandans on hold, to fight unending wars.

But before Gen. Kayihura left, on his second last day in office, March 3rd 2018, he made reshuffles. He reshuffled 53 officials on his way out.

Some of the officials include; Norman Musinga, the former Kampala Metropolitan Traffic police commander who had been on the bench, bounces back, former police spokesperson Fred Enanga moves from Press Unit to CPC as CP Information and Publications, Polly Namaye, the smooth speaking PRO, goes with Enanga to CPC as ACP information and publications, Dennis Namuwoza moves from Kigezi to Kampala Metropolitan South as RPC, while Siraje Bakaleke moved from KMP South to CPC as CP Political Education, Maxwell Ogwal who has also been on the bench heads to East Kyoga as RPC.

Others are; Susan Edith Nalwoga who moves from the bench to Ssezibwa as RPC, Moses Mwanga Kityo, from bench to Savanah as RPC, Barugahare Christopher, from Wmala region to PSU pending investigation, Charles Mutungi, from the bench to CID Headquarters, Otim Chris, from Albertine region to CID Headquarters, Musa Nabende from Sipi region to ASTU as director operations, Kasalawo Christopher from IGP’s office to Commander Field Force Unit with Jacob Opolot as his deputy, Charles Nsaba from the bench to DPC Old Kampala, Michael Kasigire to Kira Road police as DPC and Wotwali Ronald who moves to Kawempe as DPC among others.

Gen. Kayihura was replaced with his Deputy, Okoth Ochola while Tumukunde’s shoes will be filled by Gen. Elly Tumwiine.
