A total of 326,149 candidates who sat for 2017 senior four examinations from 3,568 are to know their fate today as the Uganda National Examinations Board - UNEB is set to release the 2017 Uganda Certificate of Education examination results this morning.

According to the communication from UNEB, the results will be released at the office of the Prime minister in Kampala, by one of the ministers of education.
It is however believed that the minister of education Janet Kataha will not be able to make it for the ceremony as has been the norm in the past, since she is away on other engagements.

Recently, rumors made rounds on social media that the examinations had been withheld due to leakage that marred UCE last year. Parents and students were nervous thinking they might have to repeat another year of junior secondary school

Last year's S.4 examinations were surrounded by the mass leakage of Biology, Christian Religious Education and Chemistry papers leading to the arrest of more than 40 people, accused of leaking the papers through social media sites. The leakage is believed to have started from Iganga district.

UNEB Executive Secretary, Dan Odongo reassured parents and candidates that the examination body did not increase the pass mark due to the leakage of examinations last year. "I have said this before and will say it again; we did not penalize any innocent candidates due to the bad work of a few bad candidates.
