Residents of Kirangira Village in Nama Sub County, Mukono district have this morning blocked all access roads through their area in protest of illegal arrests of fellow residents by their land lord.

The residents are accused of illegal settlement on his land.

Dick Banooba, the land lord is said to have used police to arrest one resident identified as Mary Kigozi who was later taken to court, and in turn remanded to Kauga prison which fellow residents are in total disagreement with.

The arrest and detention raised tension among residents who blocked roads accusing police of conniving with rich people to harass residents.

However, the area Resident District Commissioner Nasser Munulo visited the scene and disagreed with any operations carried out in the area by police officers terming them as illegal and called on the Region Police Commander and Division Police Commander to have such officers brought to book.

Munulo also condemned police actions and assured residents of full support until the struggle is won.
The Division Police Commander Rogers Sseguya promised to exert pressure on court to have the production warrant released so as they have prisoners released on bail.
