Drama ensued at Buganda Road Court after two men failed to raise Shillings 2M Bail money.

This morning, Buganda Road Grade one magistrate Gladys Kamasanyu granted 1 Million each Bail to each offender in a Makindye based music producer Jonathan Muwanguzi and singer David Mugema and their sureties 10 Million non cash bond.

But the duo was at 12:30PM still in detention after failing to raise the money.

This prompted singers and relatives to contribute for them, but by press time, they were short of Shillings 720,000 to complete their release.

Muwanguzi and Mugema were Tuesday charged with disturbing the peace of President Yoweri Museveni, and sent to Luzira, where they spent the night.

It is alleged that the duo and others at large, while at Salaama Road, Makindye, willfully composed, recorded and distributed a song titled “Wumula” where they attacked and disturbed the peace of Gen. Museveni, with no purpose of legitimate communication.

The song allegedly offended the president.

This morning, a number of local singers including Dr. Hilder Man, Catherine Kusasira, Haruna Mubiru, Willy Mukabya who is even a surety among others came to support the duo at court. After contributing for the duo, most artists left before the duo could be released.

If they fail to raise the 2 Million Shillings, the gentlemen will be taken back to Luzira.

Singers who showed up for court hearing said it is wrong that government is going after their persons, yet all they do is sing about the current political environment which affects every Ugandan.
