Edith Byanyima, the auntie to two Kanyamunyu brothers, Joseph and Mathew who are facing murder charges at Luzira has finally showed up for questioning at the Special Investigations Directorate Kireka after missing on two appointments.

Edith, also sister to Oxfam head Winnie Byanyima was last month summoned by police to be grilled over statements he uttered during an interview with an online website that were viewed as sectarian and inciting violence.

While defending her sister’s act of showing up to court and standing surety for Mathew and Joseph Kanyamunyu, who are implicated in the murder of child activist Kenneth Akena, Byanyima alleged that the Acholi had killed the duo’s father.

This did not go down well with Akena’s family, lawyers and Acholi legislators who petitioned the IGP asking that she is investigated and questioned over the utterances.

Formerly, Byanyima told the police that she had other engagements and could not show up for the scheduled questioning on two occasions. She however turned up at police today.
