Principle Judge Reshuffles High Court Judges

The Principal Judge, Yorokamu Bamwine has made a mini reshuffle of High Court judges moving Justice Wilson Masalu Musene, the head of the Criminal Division of the High Court to the newly created upcountry High court circuit of Mpigi.

The Principal Judge, Yorokamu Bamwine has made a mini reshuffle of High Court judges moving Justice Wilson Masalu Musene, the head of the Criminal Division of the High Court to the newly created upcountry High court circuit of Mpigi.

Meanwhile, the head of the Land Division of the High Court Justice Wilson Kwesiga, moves to replace Justice Musene as the head of the Criminal Division. 

Also, Justice Godfrey Namundi who has been at Jinja High Court is now the new deputy Head of the Land Division, Justice Elizabeth Kibula Kabanda, who has been caretaker Judge of the Mpigi Circuit, returns to the Criminal and Family Divisions of the High Court

Justice Dr. Andrew Bashaija who has been deputizing Justice Kwesiga in the Land Division has now been elevated to head the Land Division of the High Court. "The re-deployments are with immediate effect, subject of course to the usual completion of all partly heard cases in advanced stage at the old station." reads the redeployment circular by the Principal Judge

Adding: "Further to my administrative circular No. 1 of 2016 and in consultation with the Hon. Chief Justice, adjustments are hereby made in staff deployments for more effective delivery of service."

To that effect, the Principal Judge has tasked the Secretary to the Judiciary, Kagole Kivumbi and High Court Registrar, Isaac Muwata to facilitate the redeployment of the affected judges.

Mpigi High Court Circuit was created together with Mubende, Mukono, Iganga, Tororo, Rukungiri, Hoima, and Luwero, in addition to the existing Circuits of Jinja, Mbale, Soroti, Lira, Gulu, Arua, Masindi, Fort Portal, Mbarara, Kabale and Masaka.
