Buganda Kingdom Partners with Rotarians to Equip Cancer Ward at Nsambya Hospital

Buganda kingdom has in collaboration with the Rotarians agreed to launch the 5th annual Rotary Cancer Run slated for Sunday August 28th 2016.

 

Speaking during the event at Nsambya hospital this morning, the Katikkiro Charles Peter Mayika announced that his principal, the Kabaka of Buganda accepted to team up with Rotarians in a run that is meant for the fight against the deadly disease.

 

“I was approached by Steven Mwanje about the participation of the Kingdom in this project of the fight against cancer; I went to my principal and told him that Rotary fraternity would like to partner with us in the fight against cancer, and he was most pleased. I am talking about the king, the Kabaka,” said Katikkiro Mayiga.

 

According to Katikkiro Mayiga, the Kabaka gave them a green light to partner with rotary in what he termed as a most noble cause.

 

He also commended companies including centenary bank which has contributed a hefty amount of shillings 110 million.

 

He took the opportunity to campaign for his “Etoffali” drive asking Rotarians to specifically invite him over to offer him their contribution.

 

The race will start at 7:00am with 21km, 10km and 5km categories. Registration is ongoing at a fee of shillings 20,000 at Centenary Bank branches around Kampala and Bulange Mengo.
