Parliament Approves Ssekandi as Vice President

Ssekandi is currently the Bukoto county central Member of Parliament. He has served as Uganda’s vice president since 2011. He also served as the speaker of parliament for 10 years.

Parliament has this morning vetted and approved the vice president Edward Kiwanuka Ssekandi. The motion to approve Ssekandi’s vice presidency was moved by Government chief whip Ruth Nankabirwa and seconded by FDC’S Odonga Otto and DP’s Joseph Sewungu.

280 MPs in favor of Ssekandi’s bid 04 MPs against, 09 MPs abstained from voting.

Ssekandi is currently the Bukoto county central Member of Parliament. He has served as Uganda’s vice president since 2011. He also served as the speaker of parliament for 10 years.

Parliament has also approved members on Appointments Committee; including FDC legislators Kiiza, Betty Aol, Francis Mwijukye while the army named Gen. Elly Tumwine to Appointments Committee.

Upon his new appointment, Ssekandi promised to serve people of Uganda without discrimination, promising to do what he is supposed to. 'President has confidence in me; I’ll serve him, country to best of my ability. I’ll do what am supposed to do” Ssekandi said.
