Producers and songwriters are the least appreciated people in the Ugandan music industry yet they push artists to success.

Multi-talented producer and songwriter, Daddy Andre feels that most of them are downplayed yet they drive the industry in the right direction.

He has penned several songs for different musicians but he has nothing to show if we are to go by his revelation.

In a new interview, he noted that he hasn't gained much from songwriting.

He believes songwriters should share 50% of the total money collected from the song.

He explained song composition takes a lot of time and concentration but in the end, writers don't benefit from their craft.

"The songwriters must be entitled to a 50% share of the proceeds collected from the song. That's the only way the writers will gain from their knowledge," he explained during an interview with local television.

He urged lawmakers to protect composers and writers by awarding them a percentage of the proceeds made by musicians.
