As we count a few days to close of the year, 2017 has garnered a surplus of adrenaline-charged fresh music from new and unacquainted voices, as well as thrilling answers from the known faces.
With any luck, 2018 will prove to be a make-or-break year for many of these artists, as they hustle beyond the perimeter of oblivion into popular acclaim.
We had our own analytical review of the musical performers/performances of different genres, and present the most promising upstart artistes and comeback stars that we hope will have a major leap forward come 2018 musical calendar.

Vinka
Vinka has been received well this year outing hot jams like Over Dose featuring male singing duo Voltage and now latest Club banger Malaika that has become an anthem. With this kind of momentum, 2018 will be a year for this dancehall star to make a few more shillings.
Fik Fameica
Uniquely blended with hit hot lyrics, a remarkable sense of fashion, this hip-hop singer Fik Fameica is the next big thing for the local industry. This year has been good for him with hit songs like Byenyenya, Sitani Tonkema where he features Sheebah and Roden Y and now Kutema which is a club anthem we can only wish him the best of luck in 2018.
Kemishan
Dancehall singer features Mun G on Big Bumpa dancehall song that has left many Kampala slay Queens shaking their 1kg behind. Up in the Air is another one with the King herself Cindy Ft Roja and Slick Stuart that topped charts in 2017.
Currently, he released Gyal Dem Nice that is also doing well on the airwaves. 2018 should be a year for Kemishan.
Geosteady
Real names Kigozi George, 2017 has been a great blessing to his career with a maiden concert to his name, hit after hit jams including Owooma, Tokendeza, Am ready among many others. Geosteady has replaced the taken over Jamal Waswa and Aziz Azion space in wowing women’s hearts.
Ykee Benda
This boy is going to be a huge international star if he takes music seriously ....Ykee Benda has been able to stand as a solo artist in 2017 despite having broken out to the scene on a monster collaboration farmer Ft Sheebah Karungi. Muna Kampala, Byonkola, Mailaka, Super Star are just too many hits jams in the same year.
2018 looks brighter for the Kireka boy ...
