According to the United Nations Development Programme, more than a third of the country’s population consisting of 24 million people are living below the poverty line, and nearly 70% lives on less than $2 a day.

Yet the President, Jose Eduardo dos Santos saw nothing wrong in inviting the American hip pop Star to come perform at his private Christmas party for a whooping $2million.

Despite calls from human rights activists and critics requesting her to cancel the concert considering the poor state of the country, Nicki Minaj heeded none and showed up in Angola with a private jet for the show which took place on Saturday in Luanda, Angola.

Dos Santos (73) has always been at the centre of corruption, misappropriation of funds and intimidation in the country said to be Africa’s second-largest oil producer, still the people live in abject poverty.
