Total Uganda has also fully facilitated John Consta, who is fourth on the National Rally Championship log with TOTAL Quartz Lubricants, fuel and cash.

Presenting a dummy cheque at Total Head Office 8th Industrial Area in Kampala this morning, Total Uganda Human Resource & Administration Manager Susan Nampala said the rally will be a good testing ground for TOTAL’s products, particularly lubricants which have age resistance technology to keep engines younger for longer.

She commended media for the coverage it has given to the sport over the years and encouraged them to continue promoting the sport especially talented Ugandan drivers.

“Today it is indeed my great honor and privilege to present our contribution to the Uganda Motorsport Club for the UMOSPOC Independence Rally that revs off this weekend, starting Friday to Sunday. In addition to the contribution of Shs9.5 million, we have also added extra sponsorship for John Consta,” Nampala said.

TOTAL Uganda has previously sponsored the Mountains of the Moon UMC rally and the CMC Rally in Mukono which took place in May.

On the global scale, Total has been involved in rally for more than 45 years. Total is a partner of Citroen in the World Rally Championship (WRC). Since the early 2000s, Total-supported teams have won eight world manufacturers' and nine world drivers' championship titles with Sebastien Loeb.

Speaking at the same function, The Federation of Motorsport Uganda (FMU) Chairman, Jack Wavamunno thanked Total for the gesture adding that the firm has for years been one of the major contributors to the development of the sport in Uganda.

The UMOSPOC Independence rally forms an important circuit in the national rally calendar and it is decisive in determining the eventual winner of the NRC championship.
