Music for artists like Dorrys Mutahunga is rarely played on TV and Radio stations in Kampala

This is because they refuse to play their well-recorded music, claiming they can never be hits and insist artists should record Luganda songs.

“How can you claim to be a National station if you only play music from one region? How do they expect a song to be a hit if it’s not played?” artists reasoned out. Pastor George Okudi won the Africa Kora Awards with a Luo song that most stations didn’t want to play.

They have called on station managers and directors to give them a chance to be heard also. We might be blessed with another superstar from Lira, Mbarara, Mbale, Arua, Gulu or any other region apart from Kampala. Some of the artists who complained are 4GB and Laguna from Northern Uganda.
