Musician Bebe Cool announced last year that he will launch the Bebe Cool annual awards this year to appreciate the best performers in the Ugandan music industry.
In a recent interview, he stated that he set aside two billion shillings that will be used to run the event, expected to launch this year.
The musicians will be walking away with money instead of glass awards that cost less than Shs 200,000.
"The awards in Uganda became meaningless. I am launching my awards and you will understand the difference. The Bebe Cool list awards will cost between 1.5 to 2 billion Uganda shillings," he said in an interview with local television.
Bebe Cool insists that in a few years, his awards will be the best in East and Central Africa.
