In the early 2000s, Clever J was one of the hottest musicians in Uganda but drug addiction took a toll on him.

He has not released music in many years and his attempt for a major comeback failed terribly.

He now lives a low-key life in Katuluko village in Buloba where his main business is bricklaying.

Two years ago, good samaritans fundraised money for Clever J to open up a studio at his home. Equipment was bought but unfortunately, there is no power in his village, and this renders his studio nonfunctional.

He has now turned his guns to the government asking them to light his village. He asked the government to extend electricity to everyone household in his village.

“I ask the government to give us electricity like they gave Chameleone a car. Villagers laugh at me because I can not use my studio. I need electricity so that I can earn since many upcoming artists are willing to pay for studio sessions,” he said during an interview.

Clever J’s cousin, Jose Chameleone was recently gifted with a monster Range Rover ride valued at over Ugx 300M
