Musician Ykee Benda recently celebrated five years in the Ugandan music industry.

During this period, the singer has achieved a lot like performing at some of the biggest stages, winning several international awards, and pulling off a mega-concert at Serena Hotel two years ago.

This has, however, been possible because of his fans both locally and internationally.

In a tweet, the singer applauded the Ugandans in the diaspora for playing a big role in promoting Ugandan music.

“Special love and big love to all Ugandans in the diaspora. Guys, you play a big role in promoting Ugandan music. Thank you so much. We love you and you mean the world to us all. May God protect you over there,” he tweeted.

Local musicians often earn more on shows held abroad than they reap locally.
