The Uganda Performing Rights Society (UPRS) former chief executive officer Mr James Wasula  was suspended by Uganda Registration Services Bureau (URSB) to investigate the workings and financial conditions of the society.

Talking about his tenure, he explained that some artistes who often pointed fingers at him for not paying them were not registered members.

"Most artistes are hard to deal with. We used to invite them to come and register so that they could get their money, but very few would comply, ” he explained.

Wasula also warned the current board of the challenges they are likely to face while  dealing with musicians.

“You have to understand these people. They are complicated. They bash you publicly on TV, then ring you to say it was a stunt,” he added.

Wasula suggested he would have done a better job as the head of UPRS if every artiste had complied to his call of registering as a member of UPRS.
