A few weeks ago, musician Jose Chameleone declared his intentions of running as Kampala mayor come 2021.
He has so far visited three city suburbs; Makindye, Kawempe and Ggaba trying to win people's hearts for votes.
Through his social media platforms, the singer has been advocating for community hygiene. He says the city has inadequate toilets to serve millions of people that work in the city.
According to Chameleone, the city centre has a ratio of 1 million people to 1 toilet.
The “wale wale” hit maker promises to construct more toilets when elected as Kampala Lord Mayor.
He posted, "A RATIO OF ONE MILLION PEOPLE TO ONE TOILET
When I mentioned the “STORM” some people thought I was just joining a fun wagon.
That’s absolutely wrong! We have together patiently waited for adequate services and the leadership we jointly deserve - It has become a repeated promise never to be achieved and that has prompted our desire to do it our selves.
Fortunately by God's grace I have been all over the world and I have observed and admired how other cities and countries managed to be where they are as my own is lugging behind!! To get where other countries are, We must start the journey now.
It’s so unkind of our leaders given offices to deny us the services we highly pay for in form of tax.
My Capital city "central" has about 2 Million residents living in and an estimated over 4 million people who everyday come to the city to trade.
The same City we all love has 7 public toilets with very low hygiene and maintenance!
1 - KAMWOKYA
2 - KPC
3 - CITY SQUARE
4 - NEW TAXI PARK
5 - OLD TAXI PARK
6 - NAKIVUBO
7- QUEENS WAY
Meaning every one of them must serve a million of us . The failure of people to access this service therefore is one of causes of the many diseases that lead to deaths of our country men and women plus their children.
DON'T WE DESERVE BETTER?
