Speaking to journalists today morning at the University Guest House, the Guild President Ivan Bwowe clarified that following the scrapping of the 10 percent increment – which was overcame by the students’ protests and President Museveni’s involvement, the administration has now raised fees for the forthcoming graduation slated for January.

“It has been raised from Shs 90,000 to Shs 220,000 yet there was no council decision communicated indicating the increment. It is not ethical for the university to increase any fees which is against the contract signed with students,” Bwowe said.

“We can’t allow any increment on the current, coming and former students of the university awaiting graduation as this is not fair to all of them.”

“According to the norms, the results ought to have been out one month after the start of the new semester but it’s now more than two months but nothing has been done. It’s high time we changed the tactics and on Monday we are set for something big and this will force the University council to resign,” Bwowe cautioned.
