Residents of Kasenene village in Luwero district are in shock after two people were burnt to death after fire gutted their home.

The deceased are identified as Abdullah Ssenyange, 21 years and a one-year-old baby belonging to Musa Kabuye, a resident of Kasenene village in Bamunanika sub-county.

According to Living Twazagye the Luwero District Police Commander, Kabuye together with his wife left Ssenyange and the toddler sleeping in the house and went to party in a bar. However, says that at about 3:00 am, Kabuye received information that his house had caught fire and by the time the neighbors intervened, the two people had died and their bodies burnt beyond recognition.

Kabuye rushed home but only managed to rescue his motorcycle from catching fire and escaped with injuries. He is currently hospitalized.

Twazagye says that Police have since transferred the deceased's remains to the mortuary at Mulago Regional Referral hospital and investigations are still underway to establish the exact cause of the fire.

Fred Ssemwanga, the Bamunanika Sub-county LC V councilor suspects that the fire could have started from a candle, which was left burning before the two slept off.
