Four Arrested over Murder of Kamwokya LC III Councilor, Prime Suspect on the Run

Police in Kampala are holding four suspects in connection to the murder of the Kamwokya LC III councilor.

The deceased, James Kakooza was killed on July 16 alongJinja road near Centenary Park by unknown assailants riding on a motorcycle while on his routine morning jog.

The suspects are currently being held at the Special Investigations Unit-SIU on charges of murder. Police are still looking for a key suspect in the murder.

The suspects have been identified as Abdul Mwesigye 25-year-old carpenter from Komamboga in Kawempe Division, Wickliffe Mpumuza 19-year-old car wash attendant of Namuli zone in Bukoto, and Hussein Sserubogo alias Abdu, a boda-boda rider from Kisenyi ll zone in Kamwokya.

Joint security operatives from the Chieftaincy of Military Intelligence-CMI and Criminal Investigations Directorate-CID arrested the suspects after intelligence findings linked to this murder.

“The lady was arrested on charges of giving false information in order to divert investigations," Enanga noted. "You know when such a big incident happens, we get different people who come with intentions of diverting us, so she deceived investigators, but because of a thorough probe at KMP, we managed to disprove her and those innocent people were released.”
