Detectives at Nansana police station have arrested a notorious robber and are hunting for his accomplices following a series of robberies in the area.

Detectives at Nansana police station have arrested a notorious robber and are hunting for his accomplices following a series of robberies in the area.

Luke Owoyesigyire the PRO KMP identifies the suspect as Ssozi Derrick 20 years who was arrested during an intelligence-led operation in areas of Kisumu Village, Nabweru Division in Wakiso District on 24/04/2022 at around 3:00 pm.

Ssozi, a resident of the same area was allegedly found surveilling the area while carrying a backpack.

Officers searched his backpack and recovered a Panga wrapped in a red cloth, 2 knives, 1cutter and 2 harmers. The bag is also suspected to be stolen.

The detectives then proceeded to Ssozi’s home where another search was carried out and several suspected stolen properties were recovered, including 2 television sets, 2 woofers, 2 fans, three master keys, 1 Techno smartphone, cash amounting to four million fifty thousand Ugandan shillings (4,050,000) and other household items valued at thirteen million (13 millions) Shillings. 

“We also recovered two  Motorcycles Reg nos. UFA 513J and UFL 408A suspected to be stolen, breaking implements, 03 Master keys, a cutter( blue cover), 05 Notes of South Sudanese pounds in denomination of 50, 50 notes of Kenyan shillings, one hundred rupees, 05 suspected stolen mobile phones of infinix hot 10, W$Q (blue), Tecno smart phone , MI smart (pink) and itel buttons (mapeesa), a lap smart television, 02 sets of sub woofers HiFi and smart, 01 DVD player, 02 fans, 01 ADH refrigerator among others,” says Owoyesigyire. 

The team has since intensified operations to find his colleagues who we suspect to have been working with him in these Robberies. 

Police applauded the Joint task team for the work done in Nabweru in recovering the stolen items and making the arrest.  

Owoyesigyire urged the community to remain vigilant so as to fight criminal gangs in their areas of residence. The suspect is currently detained at Nansana police station as investigations continue.
