Four Uganda People's Defence Forces deserters have been convincted of murder by the General Court Martial following the death of two mobile money agents in Zanna along Entebbe-Kampala Highway.

The convicts are; Bob Anichan, a UPDF Deserter formerly attached to Uganda Military Academy Kabamba, Dennis Mangusho, formerly attached to the 63 Battalion, Stanley Mulunda alias Jumba Frank, a Casual Laborer from Masanafu and Issa Ntale alias Ganja, a Boda Boda rider.

Court chaired by Lt. General Andrew Gutti found the four men guilty of shooting to death Moreen Nakabuubi and Harriet Nalwadda and robbing them of Shillings 6.8million on June 10th, 2019.

Lt. General Gutti while delivering the judgment of the seven member panel, said prosecution had proved the cases against the accused beyond reasonable doubt through the 16 prosecution witnesses.

The panel also noted that the murder of the two ladies was malice aforethought, since it was caused by shooting as testified by Dr. James Mbayo. Dr. Mbayo told court that Nalwadda was shot in the chest shuttering her breasts, which made her bleed to death.

Prosecution witnesses including police detectives and spouses of the accused also placed the convicts on the scene of crime, which shows their involvement in the murder.

A bag containing Shillings 6.8 million was found at the home of Ntale Issa covered in blood stains that matched that of the late Nalwadda. Prosecution presented witnesses including Francis Kabera, the head of Security at Airtel Uganda, Robinah Nalwoga, the wife to Ntale and Bintah Ssengoba, the girlfriend of Mulunda and a number of detectives.

According to Kabera, he obtained a number of court orders to track down the call logs of phone number 0755218637 belonging to Ntale, one of the convicts and that on the fateful day, Ntale was in constant communication with Mulindwa who was in Zanna.
