80 suspected criminals have been arrested in an operation done by police for allegedly terrorizing residents of Fort Portal municipality.
John Oese the Kabarole District Police Commander says the suspects were arrested in a three day-night patrol from the areas of Kisenyi, Kagote, Kiculeta, Kasusu, Kitumba, Bukwali and Kamengo.
Oese added that the suspects were arrested following several complaints from the public over increased cases of housebreaking, animal theft, phone thefts and among others.
Apollo Musinguzi alias Kanyankole who is alleged to have been coning people in Fort Portal was also arrested in Kitumba during the operation.
Police has been hunting for Musinguzi after he coned 35 million shillings from a woman in Fort portal municipality.
According to Oese, some of the suspects were found in possession of narcotic drugs, suspected stolen properties like phones among others.
31 suspects were charged with theft and possession of stolen property.
