Court in Masaka has sentenced a 30-year-old man to 50 years in jail for murder and aggravated robbery.

The convict is Ibra Kasekende 30, a cobbler in Kampala who killed Musa Mukasa a special hire driver and robbed his vehicle an Ipsum registration number UAV 473B.

Masaka Resident judge, Justice Winfred Nabisinde on Thursday heard that Kasekende and his friend Lukyamuzi Yasin, on 24th July 2016, hired Mukasa from Kampala to take them to Kalungu to visit their relatives.

However, Prosecution led by Amina Akasa told court that the duo after reaching Lukaya told Mukasa to stop at a nearby bush so that they can ease themselves, but strangled him to death.

According to Akasa, Kasekende and Lukyamuzi dumped the body at Kabale Maguluka B Village in Kyamulibwa Sub County, Kalungu district.

Kasekende was later arrested in Bukomansimbi district trying to sell the deceased’s vehicle.

Regina Tronera the Defense lawyer asked court to give the convicts minimum sentences since they were remorseful for the crime they committed.

But, Justice Nabisinde sentenced Lukyamuzi to 45 years imprisonment for murder while Kasekende was sentenced to 50 years in prison for murder and aggravated robbery.
