Police in Kiruhura have arrested two suspected kidnappers identified as Alex Asiimwe alias Isaac and Enos Taremwa.
The duo, both casual laborers in Ruhondwa village in Kyakabunga parish in Nyakasheshera sub-county in Kiruhura district is accused of kidnapping and killing eight-year-old, Ronald Kangume on July 31st, 2019.
According to police, after kidnapping the minor, the suspects demanded for a ransom of USD 100,000 to release him or else they kill him.
The duo also contacted the minor’s family using different phone numbers and threatened to kill the kidnap victim unless their demands are met.
According to Samson Kasasira, the Rwizi Region police spokesperson, the suspects were tracked down and apprehended on Monday evening. They led police officers to the bush where they buried the minor’s remains after killing him when they failed to get the ransom.
