Panic in Gulu as two Boda boda Cyclists are killed in 14 days

Boda boda riders in Gulu are in panic after attacks on cyclists shot up the past two weeks. According to police reports, two Boda Boda cyclists have been killed and five others injured in the last 14 days.

Boda boda riders in Gulu are in panic after attacks on cyclists shot up the past two weeks. According to police reports, two Boda Boda cyclists have been killed and five others injured in the last 14 days.

The report also indicates that 21 motorcycles have been stolen since the beginning of last month. 
According to the Nicholas Otim the Gulu district Boda Boda association enforcement officer identified the deceased as Denis Okello and Innocent Kony who were all attacked and died from injuries while other are nursing injuries from Gulu regional referral hospital.

He added that the robbers target new motorcycles since it`s easier for them to dispose of. Otim adds that the rate of stealing motorcycles this month has increased saying they used to register an average of 20 cases of stolen motorcycles. 

The chairperson of Gulu district Boda Boda cyclists association Thomas Oboma Okot says, they have instituted a  team of night operators from within the cyclists who collaborate with the police and army to try and track down the suspected thugs.

According to Gulu District Police commander Emmanuel Mafundo, they have so far arrested one suspect believed to be behind the attacks on the cyclists. 

The suspect is identified as Juliet Aber who has reportedly coordinated the robbery of more than twenty motorcycles which are stolen and sold in Elegu border market, Arua, South Sudan and the Democratic Republic of Congo.
