A panic wave has hit Entebbe residents after a woman was found dead and body dumped in a compound of Rose Namutebi, at Katabi Busambaga cell in Entebbe municipality.

This is the same area where other women were murdered, raped and their bodies disgraced in 2017 by unknown persons.
The development comes barely a week after suspects in the murder of one of the 2017 murders were acquitted by high court in Kampala for lack of evidence pinning them.
Now, Police spokesperson Fred Enanga says the force is considering an appeal against the acquittal of Ivan Katongole a businessman dealing in fish exports, Andrew Kizito and Hellen Nabaggala who are alleged to have sexually abused and murdered Rose Nakimuli, a hairdresser in Katabi Town Council, Wakiso District.

More than 20 women were killed in Entebbe and Nansana Wakiso District in 2017. Nakimuli’s body was found in a banana plantation with sticks inserted in her private parts.

According to original police reports, the trio was seen with the deceased on the night she was murdered. However, this and some other evidence provided by the State was not enough to convince Justice Wilson Kwesiga who blamed the police for doing a shambolic job and the state for maliciously charging the suspects.

Enanga says police will consider an appeal since they have 14 days to file.

In the fresh murder, the victim’s body according to Fred Mugerwa, the in charge of security at the area local council, was discovered by a young girl in the compound on Monday afternoon.
"The face had bruises and she seemed to have been strangled. She was only left with a top blouse, while the rest of the body parts were naked, exposing several scratches," He said.

It is also said that the deceased was spotted in a nearby bar only identified as Captain's bar on Sunday evening, and when a police sniffing dog was brought in, it back-traced the steps to the same bar. No arrests were made since no one was found at the bar.
