Nyanzi remanded to Luzira prisons after Dramatic Court appearance

Drama ensued at Buganda Road Grade One Magistrate court this afternoon when Dr. Stella Nyanzi uttered all sorts of obscenities while defending self from the charges of offensive communication and cyber harassment.

Ester Nahilya the Buganda Road Grade One magistrate was left in awe when she asked that an interpreter helps Nyanzi to understand her charges in a language well known to her, Luganda. This came after the accused told the Magistrate she had not understood the charges read out by prosecution.

It is alleged that on September 16th, 2018 while in Kampala District or there about, Nyanzi used a computer to post on her Facebook page in the names of "Stella Nyanzi" suggestions or proposals among others that "she wished His Excellency Yoweri Kaguta Museveni's mother Esteri Kokundeka's cursed Vaginal Canal had burnt up on his unborn fetus."

Also, that on September, 19th, 2018 Nyanzi willfully and repeatedly used electronic communication to post messages offensive in nature via Facebook, transmitted over the internet to disturb or attempted to disturb the peace, quiet or right of privacy of His Excellency the President of Uganda Yoweri Kaguta Museveni with no Purpose of legitimate communication

Nyanzi however loudly jumped in as soon as the interpreter begun, demanding in Luganda, that words such as "Vaginal Canals" be interpreted clearly so that she gets to know whether they are talking about the Vagina that produces children or something else.
In an angry tone, the Magistrate told Nyanzi to keep quiet in vain. The accused told court that while she has written several times about the Vagina and President Museveni, she doesn't remember ever writing about the Vagina of Museveni's mother, the late Esteri Konkundeka.

As the Magistrate struggled to talk sense into Nyanzi, the fully packed court was laughing out loud at her obscenities. Not even her lawyer; Isaac Ssemakadde after being asked by the magistrate could calm Nyanzi down.

Counsel Ssemakadde instead prayed that the Magistrate tolerate his client’s obscenity arguing he didn't have powers to calm her down. The irate Magistrate however told Ssemakadde that it was his responsibility to talk sense into his client.

According to Nyanzi, all she wanted to do was to protest being locked up at the Special Investigations Unit in Kireka for five days without being charged.

However, Magistrate Nahilya didn't allow her to plead to the charges and remanded her to Luzira prisons until November, 9th, 2018 when she will return to enter her plea.
