The Uganda police force has heroically reunited two children with their parents after intercepting kidnappers who were demanding UGX 3 million in ransom.

Kampala metropolitan police spokesperson Luke Owoyesigire says the little ones were tricked into moving with kidnappers to buy some cakes. The ill intentioned people later disappeared with the duo without consent of their parents.

Hajji Musa Muliika the children’s father identifies them as Nakula Muliika Rahma and Muliika Diin Tajudini. He says the duo disappeared from their home in Kigandazi Zone-Bweyogerere on Sunday morning, forcing him to file a case of kidnap at Bweyogerere police station.

Police immediately began tracking the suspects who called Hajji Muliika demanding for a 3m ransom.

“The police trackers located the calls made by the suspects to Lugazi as they kept asking for the 3 million Shillings ransom to release the children. On realizing that police was closing in on them, the suspects drove the children back to Kireka, and were intercepted in a vehicle Toyota Hiace Reg.No. UBB 724M” Police says.

The two suspects whose names police declined to divulge told the officers during questioning that they had no intentions of harming the little ones, but rather wanted to get money in form of ransom from the parents.

The suspects who are facing kidnap related charges were transferred from Bweyogerere police station to Kira division Police station. OC station Bweyogerere ASP Mike Mugabe says the duo will be arraigned before courts of law and their vehicle remains impounded.
