Police in Rubanda have in custody a woman accused of abducting a 13-year-old primary school pupil.

Police in Rubanda have in custody a woman accused of abducting a 13-year-old primary school pupil. Regina Tukamuhabwa, a resident if Murole A cell in Ikumba Sub County in Rubanda district is wanted for abducting Agnes Atuheire, a primary five pupil at Murole Preparatory Primary School in Murole town council.

The school director, Norman Tushabe, says Atuheire went missing from the school on July 03, 2017. According to Tushabe, he immediately filed a report of a missing person with police and made various announcements on local radio stations to try and find the teenager.

Norman explains that on July 20th he received information showing that Tukamuhabwa is confining a young girl inside her house. He says that he notified police, which stormed the house but couldn't find the missing teenager. As a result, the officers decided to pick up the suspect for interrogation.

Ely Maate, the Kigezi Police Spokesperson, says on interrogation, Tukamuhabwa confessed having abducted the teenager and directed them to the house of Margret Tumwebaze in Ikumba village in Shebeya Parish in Hamurwa Sub County, where the girl was found.

Maate says Tukamushaba is being held at Rubanda Police station vide police file number CRB495/3017 for questioning while Tumwebaze has been released on police bond as investigations are ongoing.
