The officers deployed strategically at Rwenzori square, Kasese roundabout, square street and Kasese Central police station.

Several UPDF and Police vehicles were seen patrolling the streets in Kasese town. 30 of the 139 suspects were transferred today morning from the East Rwenzori Division Police headquarters in Kasese town, where they had spent three weeks.

The East Rwenzori Division Police Spokesperson, Mansur Suwedi says the suspects were moved ahead of their court appearance in Jinja tomorrow Wednesday.

According to Suwedi, they deployed heavily after receiving intelligence that some people were planning to foil the transfer of the suspects to Nalufenya.

Suwedi says 28 of the suspects were picked up from Rwenzururu palace, while the remaining two, both women were picked up from the Obusinga headquarters in Kasese town on November 26th, 2016 during the army raid.

At least 49 other royal guards were killed and several and others injured in the raid. The next day, Police picked up Charles Wesley Mumbere, the King of Rwenzururu Kingdom.

Mumbere has since been charged with 11 offenses including treason, murder, robbery, attempted robbery and attempted murder.
